Test D: Air Bag Tone Warning Indicator Circuit Short To Battery (DTC B1891): Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mercury Mountaineer and 2004 Ford Explorer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Restraints Control Module (RCM) monitors its connection to instrument cluster at RCM connector C310A, terminal No. 22 (Dark Blue wire, circuit No. 1390). This connection is used to signal a chime if AIR BAG warning light is inoperative and another air bag system fault exists. If RCM detects a short battery or ignition voltage on connection to instrument cluster, it will store DTC B1891 in memory and flashes Code 53 on AIR BAG warning light.
