Diagnostics Activating Procedure

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Wait at least one minute for back-up power supply to deplete stored energy.
  2. On regular cab models equipped with seat belt retractor pretensioners, remove pretensioner simulators and reconnect electrical connectors. Install door scuff plates and rear corner trim panels. Install seat belt guide mounting nuts. Tighten mounting nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Close seat belt guide covers.
  3. On SuperCab models equipped with seat belt retractor pretensioners, remove seat belt retractor pretensioner lower mounting bolts. Remove pretensioner simulators and reconnect electrical connectors. Reposition pretensioners and install mounting bolts. Tighten mounting bolts to specification. Install door scuff plates.
  4. On SuperCab models equipped with seat belt buckle pretensioners, remove pretensioner simulators and reconnect electrical connectors. On CrewCab and Excursion models equipped with seat belt retractor pretensioners, remove pretensioner simulators and reconnect electrical connectors. Install rear assist handles, B-pillar trim panels and scuff plates. Install seat belt guide mounting nuts. Tighten mounting nuts to specification. Close seat belt guide covers.
  5. On all models, remove air bag simulator from passenger-side air bag module harness connector. Install passenger-side air bag module. Remove air bag simulator from upper clockspring connector and install driver-side air bag module. Reconnect negative battery cable. Perform system operation check. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . Perform computer relearn procedure. See COMPUTER RELEARN . Reprogram pre-set radio frequencies and set clock.
