Removal and Installation

NOTE:
Do not remove the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition switch at the same time or damage to the column may result.
- Depower the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM -- FUSION, MILAN & MKZ article.
- Remove the steering column opening cover by pulling straight outward.
- Remove the upper steering column shroud.
- Release the tilt lever, remove the 3 lower steering column shroud screws and then the shroud.
- Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.
- Press the 2 tabs and remove the ignition switch.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Repower the SRS. For additional information, refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM -- FUSION, MILAN & MKZ article.
NOTE:
The steering column opening cover is held in place by tabs that clip to the instrument panel.
NOTE:
Release the upper steering column shroud, by pressing inward on the sides of the shroud and lifting upwards.
NOTE:
Lower the steering column to the lowest tilt position.
