Removal And Installation: Halfshaft: Installation

- Install a new circlip on the stub shaft.
- Using the Axle Seal Protector, install the halfshaft into the differential.
- Make sure the circlip locks in the side gear.
- Using the Halfshaft Installer, install the halfshaft into the hub assembly.
- Install the upper arm bolt and nut.
- Tighten to 110 Nm (81 lb-ft).
- Install the new wheel hub nut.
- To install, tighten to 255 Nm (188 lb-ft).
- Stake the new nut in line with the keyway to a recommended minimum depth of 1 mm (0.039 in) below the keyway diameter to engage the locking feature.
- Install the 4 rear toe link bracket nuts.
- Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).
- Install the shock absorber lower bolt and flagnut.
- Tighten to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).
- Position the ABS wheel speed sensor and install the bolt.
- Tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).
- Fill the axle with the specified quantity of the specified lubricant.
- Install the wheel and tire. For additional information, refer to WHEELS & TIRES article.
NOTE:
Make sure to install the correct circlip for each application. Failure to use the correct diameter circlip may result in shaft removal concerns or shaft separation during vehicle operation.
NOTE:
Do not tighten the rear wheel hub nut with the vehicle on the ground. The nut must be tightened to specification before the vehicle is lowered to the ground. Wheel bearing damage will occur if the wheel bearing is loaded with the weight of the vehicle applied.
