Removal And Installation: Clockspring: Removal

NOTE: The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
  1. Remove the driver air bag module. For additional information, refer to DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE  in this service information.
  2. NOTE: Make sure the road wheels are in the straight-ahead position. Damage to the clockspring may occur.
  3. Remove the steering wheel. For additional information, refer to steering wheel Removal and Installation in STEERING COLUMN article.
  4. Release the upper steering column shroud by pressing inward on the sides, lift upwards and remove.
  5. Remove the 3 screws and lower steering column shroud.
  6. Remove the steering wheel rotation sensor.
    • Disconnect the electrical connector.
    • Remove the 2 screws and sensor.
  7. Remove the clockspring.
    • Disconnect the electrical connector.
    • Remove the 2 screws.
    • Remove the clockspring.
