WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2011 Mercury Milan, 2011 Lincoln MKZ, 2011 Ford Fusion, 2010 Mercury Milan, and 2010 Ford Fusion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
P0A02 - MOTOR ELECTRONICS COOLANT TEMPERATURE (MECT) SENSOR CIRCUIT LOW

Description:  A short to ground or signal return on the MECT circuit produces a low voltage (approximately 0 volt) to the powertrain control module (PCM). A minimum of 100 mV difference exists between the short circuit voltage and a valid sensor reading at 150°C (302°F).
Possible Causes:
  • Motor electronics cooling system concerns
  • Damaged MECT sensor
  • MECT harness concerns
  • Damaged transaxle
Diagnostic Aids:
Application  Key On Engine Off  Key On Engine Running  Continuous Memory
