P0726 - ENGINE SPEED INPUT CIRCUIT RANGE/PERFORMANCE

Description:  The transaxle control module (TCM) calculates an engine speed and compares it to the engine speed received from the powertrain control module (PCM). This DTC is set when the RPM difference between the calculated and received speeds is greater than 1,000 RPM.
Possible Causes:
  • Damaged PCM
  • Damaged TCM
Diagnostic Aids:  The TCM parameter identification (PID) ENGCTO displays the RPM that the TCM received. The TCM PID RPM displays the RPM that the TCM calculated. Both PIDs should match actual engine speed.
