Test Procedure

  1. TQ1 DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P2806: CHECK THE FUNCTION OF THE GEAR SELECTOR 
    • Ignition ON, engine OFF.
    • Move the gear selector lever from PARK to REVERSE, NEUTRAL, DRIVE, and LOW gears.

    Does the gear selector indicator on the instrument cluster match the position of the gear selector lever? 

    Yes No
    GO to  TQ2. REFER to the AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE EXTERNAL CONTROLS (HYBRID) , and diagnose the shift control is out of correct relationship condition.
  2. TQ2 CHECK GEAR SELECTOR LEVER CABLE ALIGNMENT 
    NOTE: This step checks if the gear selector lever aligns with the drive position rib on the transaxle case.
    • Ignition ON, engine OFF.
    • Gear selector in DRIVE position.
    • Visually check if the gear selector lever aligns with the drive position rib on the transaxle case. Refer to the AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE EXTERNAL CONTROLS (HYBRID) for the alignment procedure.

    Does the gear selector lever align with the drive position rib on the transaxle case? 

    Yes No
    GO to  TQ3. REFER to the AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE EXTERNAL CONTROLS (HYBRID) , to align the gear selector lever.
  3. TQ3 CHECK THE GEAR SELECTOR LEVER CABLE AND BRACKET 
    • Inspect the gear selector lever cable and bracket for binding or damage.
    • Check for loose gear selector lever cable and bracket.

    Is a concern present? 

    Yes No
    REPAIR as necessary.
    Clear the PCM DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
    GO to  TQ4.
  4. TQ4 CHECK THE PARK PAWL FUNCTION 
    • Place the vehicle on a slight grade with the gear selector in PARK with the brake applied.
    • Release the brake pedal.

    Does the park pawl keep the vehicle from moving when the brake is released? 

    Yes No
    Unable to duplicate or identify the concern at this time.
    RETURN to SYMPTOM CHARTS to continue diagnosis.
    INSTALL a new transaxle assembly. Refer to the ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (ECVT)
