Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern by operating the transmission external control.
  2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage, incorrect component installation and component misalignment. Verify that all circuit-related systems are functioning correctly. Refer to the following chart.
    VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

    Mechanical Electrical
    • Damaged Brake Shift Interlock Actuator (BSIA)
    • Damaged Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch
    • Damaged steering column
    • Damaged Transmission Control Switch (TCS)
    • Damaged Instrument Cluster (IC)
    • Damaged selector lever cable and bracket
    • Failed Central Junction Box (CJB) fuse 8 (10A)
    • Failed CJB fuse 28 (7.5A)
    • Damaged wiring harness
    • Loose or corroded connections
  3. If the concern is not visually evident, verify the symptom, go to Symptom Chart - External Controls  or Go to Symptom Chart - NVH .
