Door Alignment - Rear

Hinge and striker adjustments

NOTE: To correctly align the doors, adjust the hinges and the door latch striker plates. Adjusting the hinge affects the positioning of the outside surface of the door frame. Adjusting the door latch striker plate affects the alignment of the door relative to the weatherstrip and the door closing characteristics.

Measure the clearance between the front fender and the rear door.

Measure the clearance between the rear door and the body.

Hinge adjustment

Mark the door to door hinge for reference.

Loosen the 4 door hinge-to-door bolts enough to permit movement.
Adjust the door as necessary.
Tighten the 4 door hinge-to-door bolts.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).

Striker adjustment

Loosen the door latch striker plate bolts enough to permit movement.
Adjust the door latch striker plate as necessary.
Tighten the door latch striker plate bolts.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

Hinge and striker adjustments

Check the adjustment and repeat as necessary.
Lubricate the hinges and door check arms with multi-purpose grease.
