In-Vehicle Servicing: Camshaft: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
  2. NOTE: When the timing chains are removed and the cylinder heads are installed, the crankshaft or camshafts cannot be rotated or piston and valve damage can occur.
  3. Remove the camshaft roller followers. For additional information, refer to Camshaft Roller Follower .
  4. Remove the timing chain. For additional information, refer to Timing Drive Components .
  5. Remove the bolt and the camshaft sprocket and spacer.
  6. Remove the 13 camshaft bearing cap bolts.
  7. Remove the camshaft bearing cap.
  8. Remove the camshaft from the cylinder head.
