  1. Perform The Starter Load Test

Perform STARTER LOAD TEST  under COMPONENT TESTS. If starter passes load test, go to next step. If starter fails load test, verify condition of batteries. If batteries are okay, go to step  3 .
  2. Check The Starter Circuit For Excessive Resistance

Perform VOLTAGE DROP TEST  under ON-VEHICLE TESTING. If starter passes voltage drop test, go to next step. If starter fails voltage drop test, clean circuit connections as necessary.
  3. Perform The Starter No Load Test

Perform STARTER NO-LOAD TEST  under COMPONENT TESTS. If starter passes no load test, slow cranking is caused by excessive engine drag. If starter fails no load test, replace starter motor. See STARTER MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Restore electrical connections and check system operation.
