Wheel Bearing & Hub: Installation

  1. If bearing cups were removed, use a suitable bearing cup replacer and install the wheel bearing outer cup. Then install the wheel bearing inner cup.
  2. Fill the hub until the grease is flush with the inside diameters of both bearing cups. Use Premium Long-Life Grease (XG-1-C or -K). Using a bearing packer, pack the bearing cone and roller with wheel bearing grease. Install the inner front wheel bearing. Install a new wheel hub grease seal.
  3. Apply a light coat of grease on the front wheel spindle. Use premium long-life grease. Install the brake disc and hub on the front wheel spindle. Install the outer front wheel bearing and the front wheel outer bearing retainer washer. Install the spindle nut. Adjust wheel bearing. See WHEEL BEARING ADJUSTMENT  in ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
  4. Install the front disc brake caliper anchor plate. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tighten all nuts and bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
