Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems: Auto-Unlock
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Mercury Mariner and 2010 Ford Escape. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
The auto-unlock feature is not available on vehicles equipped with a manual transmission.
NOTE:
The doors will not auto-unlock if the vehicle has been electronically locked before the driver door is opened.
The auto-unlock feature unlocks all the doors when the ignition is in the RUN position, all the doors are closed, and the vehicle has been in motion at a speed greater than 20 km/h (12 mph), the vehicle then comes to a stop and the ignition is switched to LOCK or ACC, and the driver's door is opened within 10 minutes of the ignition being switched to LOCK or ACC.
This feature can be activated/deactivated. Refer to AUTOLOCK AND AUTO-UNLOCK PROGRAMMING for programming information.
