Cover Seal: Removal

NOTE: A new Power Transfer Unit (PTU) intermediate shaft seal must be installed whenever the intermediate shaft or PTU  is removed from the vehicle.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Remove the PTU  . For additional information, refer to POWER TRANSFER UNIT (PTU) .
  3. Using the Bearing Cup Remover, the Extension from the Halfshaft Remover and a suitable slide hammer, remove and discard the deflector.

  4. Remove the seal using the Slide Hammer and a suitable seal puller inserted into the groove seal.
