Test H: Cruise Indicator Always On (Expedition)

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect speed control servo harness connector C157. Speed control servo is located on left side of engine compartment. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If CRUISE indicator is always illuminated, go to next step. If CRUISE indicator is not always illuminated, replace speed control servo. See SPEED CONTROL SERVO  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C238. Measure resistance between ground and speed control servo harness connector C157 terminal No. 1 (Orange/Light Blue wire). See Figure If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, repair instrument cluster concern. See appropriate ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - EXPEDITION & NAVIGATOR article. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Orange/Light Blue wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
