Removal and Installation

All engines 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Draining .
  3. If equipped, remove the 7 screws and the underbody cover.

    2.5L engine 

  4. Position the block heater heat shield aside.

    3.5L engine 

  5. Remove the RH catalytic converter. For additional information, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Remove the block heater heat shield.

    All engines 

  7. Disconnect the block heater electrical connector.
    NOTE: Make sure that the block heater wiring is routed and secured away from rotating or hot components, or damage to the wiring can occur.
  8. Remove the block heater.
    • To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
  9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  10. Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
