Test I: Pcm Id Does Not Match Instrument Cluster Id

- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Retrieve and record instrument cluster self-test DTCs. Clear self-test DTCs. Retrieve and record instrument cluster DTCs. If DTC B2139 is retrieved, go to next step. If DTC B2139 is not retrieved, system is okay.
- Perform SECURITY ACCESS PROCEDURE under PROGRAMMING. From NGS menu, select PARAMETER RESET command for instrument cluster. Do not make any other selections in this menu. Use diagnostic card for PCM active command keep alive memory reset. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and select PARAMETER RESET command for PCM. Turn ignition switch to RUN position for 3 seconds. Clear DTCs and turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Using NGS tester, retrieve DTCs. If DTC B2139 is not retrieved, system is okay at this time. If DTC B2139 is retrieved, verify PCM calibration. If PCM calibration is okay, repeat this step. If code is still present, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After instrument cluster replacement, cycle ignition switch to RUN position with 2 encoded keys. Clear DTCs and repeat self-test. If DTC B2139 is retrieved again, replace PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
