Test A: No Communication With Hybrid Electronic Cluster

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Black 20-pin instrument cluster harness connector C238. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster harness connector C238 at terminals No. 2 (Red/Light Green wire), No. 3 (Light Green/Red wire) and No. 11 (Gray/Yellow wire). See Fig 1. If voltages are more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltages are 10 volts or less, repair open in appropriate wire.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and Black 20-pin instrument cluster harness connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire). See Fig 1. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire or connections. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair module communications problem. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article.
