Gearshift Cable Adjustment

  1. Set the parking brake.
  2. Place the gearshift in neutral.
  3. Remove the gearshift knob and the floor console finish panel.
  4. Disengage the safety lock by sliding it away from the shifter ball stud.
    NOTE: Console removed for clarity.

  5. Disengage the cable lock by sliding it out from the shift cable end fitting.
    NOTE: If the cable lock is difficult to slide out, disconnect the shift cable from the stud, push the lock from the rear and reattach the shift cable to the ball stud.

  6. Allow the gearshift lever to center itself. With the shifter and the transmission in NEUTRAL, push the cable lock onto the cable.

  7. Engage the safety lock by sliding it over the primary shift cable lock.

  8. Check for normal operation.
