Transmission Fluid Cooler Tubes - TorqShift: Installation

Diesel engine vehicles
- Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes, bracket and nut into the vehicle.
- Tighten to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft).
- Connect the transmission fluid cooler hose onto the transmission fluid cooler tube.
- Connect the transmission fluid cooler hose onto the radiator in-tank transmission fluid cooler fitting.
- Install the transmission fluid cooler tube rear bracket.
- Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes into the vehicle.
- Reposition the starter motor electrical harness to the rear of the vehicle and connect the push pin.
- Connect the starter motor electrical connections.
- Tighten the ground cable to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
- Tighten the battery cable to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
- Tighten solenoid wire to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
- Install the starter motor solenoid terminal cover.
- Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes and starter motor electrical harness front bracket and nut.
- Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
- Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
- Connect the transmission fluid cooler hose.
- Install the secondary latch onto the transmission fluid cooler hose.
- Connect the transmission fluid cooler hose onto the radiator in-tank transmission fluid cooler fitting.
- Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes and the front and rear transmission fluid cooler tube banjo fittings.
- Tighten to 40 N.m (30 lb-ft).
- Install the transmission fluid cooler tubes in the front and rear transmission fluid cooler tube case fittings.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
- Install the lower air deflector and the screws.
- Install the splash shield and the push pin retainers.
- Fill the transmission with the specified type and quantity of transmission fluid. For additional information, refer to AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - TORQSHIFT article.
- Check for leaks.

CAUTION:
Use only MERCON® SP Transmission Fluid to service TorqShift® transmissions. Using MERCON® V in a TorqShift® transmission may cause transmission damage. Use of any fluid other than the recommended fluid can cause transmission damage.
