Removal And Installation

WARNING: Do not use any fluid other than clean brake fluid meeting manufacturer's specification. Additionally, do not use brake fluid that has been previously drained. Following these instructions will help prevent system contamination, brake component damage and the risk of serious personal injury.

CAUTION: Brake fluid is harmful to painted and plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash it with water.

RH and LH brake flexible hoses 

  1. Remove the wheel and tire. For additional information, refer to WHEELS AND TIRES article.
  2. Remove the brake caliper flow bolt and discard the 2 copper washers.
    • To install, tighten to 40 N.m (30 lb-ft).
  3. Disconnect the brake tube fitting from the LH brake flexible hose junction block.
    • To install, tighten to 18 Nm (13 lb-ft).

    4. RH brake flexible hose 

    NOTE: The RH brake flexible hose is serviced with the brake tube.
  4. Remove the brake flexible hose bracket bolt and the RH brake flexible hose.
    • To install, tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb-ft).

    5. LH brake flexible hose 

    NOTE: The LH brake flexible hose is serviced with the axle vent tube.
  5. Disconnect the brake tube fitting from the LH brake flexible hose.
    • To install, tighten to 18 Nm (13 lb-ft).
  6. Remove the brake flexible hose retaining clip.
  7. Remove the axle vent and the LH brake flexible hose.
    • To install, tightening to 17 Nm (13 lb-ft).

    8. RH and LH brake flexible hoses 

  8. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
