Turbine Shaft Speed (TSS) Sensor and Intermediate Shaft Speed Sensor: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
  2. Install a suitable high-lift transmission jack.
  3. Remove the 2 wire harness retainers from the rear crossmember and position the wire harness aside.

  5. Remove the 2 LH crossmember nuts.

  7. Remove the LH crossmember bracket.

  9. Remove the 2 RH crossmember nuts.

  11. Remove the RH crossmember bracket.

  13. Lower the transmission enough to gain access to the turbine shaft speed (TSS) sensor and intermediate shaft combination speed sensor.
  14. Disconnect the TSS and intermediate shaft combination speed sensor electrical connector.

    NOTE: Prior to removing the speed sensor, make sure that the area around the sensor is free of foreign material to prevent contamination of the transmission.
  16. Remove the TSS and intermediate shaft combination speed sensor.
    1. Remove the bolt.
    2. Remove the TSS and intermediate shaft combination speed sensor.
