Extension Housing Gasket: Removal

All vehicles 

  1. Remove the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to DRIVESHAFT article.
  2. Remove the transmission insulator nuts.

  4. Install a suitable transmission jack.
  5. Remove the transmission insulator bolts.

  7. Remove the transmission insulator.
    1. Raise the transmission upward, from the transmission insulator.
    2. Remove the transmission insulator.

  9. Disconnect the output shaft speed (OSS) sensor electrical connector.

    Vehicles equipped with a fixed flange 

  11. Remove the output shaft flange.
    1. Remove and discard the output shaft flange bolt.
    2. Remove the output shaft flange.

  13. Using the special tool, remove and discard the output shaft retaining nut.

  15. Remove the bolts and the transmission extension housing.

    Vehicles not equipped with a fixed flange 

  17. Remove the bolts and the transmission extension housing.

    All vehicles 

  19. Remove and discard the extension housing gasket.
