Transmission Fluid Drain and Refill - Without Torque Converter Drain Plug and With Fluid Pan Drain Plug: Draining

- With the vehicle in PARK, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
- Remove the transmission fluid pan drain plug and allow the transmission fluid to drain.
- Only flush the cooler tubes and radiator in-tank transmission fluid cooler if carrying out a transmission overhaul or when installing a remanufactured transmission. For additional information, refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Back Flushing and Cleaning .
NOTE:
If equipped with a radiator in-tank transmission fluid cooler or an oil-to-air (OTA) cooler, the coolers must be flushed.
