Glow Plug: Removal

No. 2 glow plug
- Remove the push pin retainers and the upper air deflector.
- Remove the power steering reservoir bracket retainers.
- Remove the power steering fluid indicator and retainers. Remove the power steering reservoir mounting bracket. Install the power steering fluid indicator and position the power steering reservoir aside.
- Disconnect the coolant hoses from the air cleaner outlet pipe.
- Loosen the clamps and remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.
- Disconnect the PCM electrical connectors.
- Remove the bolt and PCM.
- Using the special tool, remove the glow plug harness as needed.
- Remove the glow plug.
- Remove the engine cover. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR TRIM AND ORNAMENTATION article.
- Using the special tool, remove the glow plug harness as needed.
- Remove the glow plug.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
- Using the special tool, remove the glow plug harness as needed.
- Remove the glow plug.
- Remove the LH exhaust manifold. For additional information, refer to ENGINE - 6.0L DIESEL article.
- Using the special tool, remove the glow plug harness as needed.
- Remove the glow plug.
NOTE:
Air cleaner side shown, engine side similar.
CAUTION:
Do not pull on the wiring to remove the glow plug connector or damage may occur.
NOTE:
The Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer does not work on all connectors.
NOTE:
Only one glow plug connector shown.
NOTE:
Only the No. 2 glow plug is accessed from under the hood.
NOTE:
If coolant residue is found on the glow plug, a new glow plug sleeve may have to be installed. For additional information, refer to Glow Plug Sleeve .
No. 7 and 8 glow plugs
CAUTION:
Do not pull on the wiring to remove the glow plug connector or damage may occur.
NOTE:
The Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer does not work on all connectors.
NOTE:
Only one glow plug connector shown.
NOTE:
The No. 7 and 8 glow plugs are accessed from inside the vehicle.
NOTE:
If coolant residue is found on the glow plug, a new glow plug sleeve may have to be installed. For additional information, refer to Glow Plug Sleeve .
No. 1, 3 and 5 glow plugs
CAUTION:
Do not pull on the wiring to remove the glow plug connector or damage may occur.
NOTE:
The Glow Plug Connector Remover/Installer does not work on all connectors.
NOTE:
Only one glow plug connector shown.
NOTE:
The No. 1, 3 and 5 glow plugs are accessed through the wheel well.
NOTE:
If coolant residue is found on the glow plug, a new glow plug sleeve may have to be installed. For additional information, refer to Glow Plug Sleeve .
No. 4 and 6 glow plugs
CAUTION:
Do not pull on the wiring to remove the glow plug connector or damage may occur.
