Removal And Installation

- Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Disconnect the 2 coolant hoses from the engine oil cooler.
- Remove and discard the oil filter.
- To install, tighten to 16 Nm (12 lb-ft).
- Remove the threaded insert and discard the oil cooler.
- Inspect and discard the oil cooler.
- To install, tighten to 58 Nm (43 lb-ft).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install a new oil cooler.
- Fill the crankcase with clean engine oil prior to filling the cooling system.
CAUTION:
If metal, aluminum or foreign material is present in the oil cooler, mechanical concerns exist. To diagnose mechanical concerns, Refer to ENGINE SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION
