Exhaust Manifold - RH: Installation

All engines 

    CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs, or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These may cause scratches and gouges resulting in leak paths. Use a plastic scraper to clean the sealing surfaces.
  1. Clean the sealing surfaces with metal surface prep.
  2. Install 8 new exhaust manifold-to-cylinder head studs.
    • Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
  3. 4.6L (2V) engine 

  4. Using new exhaust manifold gaskets, position the exhaust manifold and install the 8 new nuts in the sequence shown.
    • Tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).

    5.4L (2V) engine 

  6. Using new exhaust manifold gaskets, position the exhaust manifold and install the 8 new nuts in the sequence shown.
    • Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

    All engines 

  8. Position the Y-pipe flange and install the 4 nuts.
    • Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  10. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
