Removal And Installation

WARNING: Never probe the electrical connectors on safety belt buckle/retractor pretensioners or adaptive load limiting retractors. Failure to follow this instruction may result in the accidental deployment of the safety belt pretensioners or adaptive load limiting retractors, which increases the risk of serious personal injury or death.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of accidental deployment, do not use any memory saver devices. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death.
NOTE: The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the restraints control module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON.
NOTE: The supplemental restraint system (SRS) must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.

All seats 

  1. Remove the seat. For additional information, refer to Seat - Front .
  2. Seats with lumbar 

    NOTE: Make sure the lumbar is adjusted to the fully relaxed position before removal.
  3. Pull and remove the lumbar adjust knob.

  5. Remove the side shield screw behind the lumbar adjust knob.

    Seats with a cushion inboard side shield 

  7. Remove the cushion inboard side shield rear screw from under the seat.

  9. Remove the cushion inboard side shield front screw.

  11. Remove the cushion inboard side shield.
    1. Pull the cushion inboard side shield away from the seat to clear the safety belt buckle and pretensioner.
    2. Rotate the cushion inboard side shield upward to release the rear push pin mount from the slot.
    3. Hold the cushion inboard side shield in one hand and release the retaining clips holding the safety belt buckle and pretensioner boot to the cushion inboard side shield.
    4. Remove the cushion inboard side shield.

  13. Remove the pin-type retainer from the upper seat track mounting flange and install it back into the cushion inboard side shield.
  14. Seats without a cushion inboard side shield 

  15. At the rear inboard of the cushion trim cover, release the hook-and-loop strips, separate the J-clips and remove the pin-type retainer.

    Seats with lumbar 

  17. Remove the lumbar actuator.
    1. Remove the 2 screws.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the lumbar actuator.
      • Route out the lumbar cable from under the seat.

    All seats 

  19. Remove the side shield screw from behind the recliner handle.

  21. Remove the cushion outboard side shield rear screw from under the seat.
    • If equipped with manual seat track, remove the cushion outboard side shield.

    Seats with power 

  23. Remove the cushion outboard side shield front screw.

  25. Disconnect the seat control switch electrical connector from under the front of the cushion frame and remove the cushion outboard side shield.

    All seats 

  27. Separate all wire harness pin-type retainers attached to the cushion frame.
  28. NOTE: The riser has been removed for clarity.
    NOTE: Power seat shown (LH only), manual similar (RH and LH).
    NOTE: Two rear seat track-to-cushion frame bolts shown. The 2 front bolts are accessible through the holes in the seat riser.
  29. Remove the 4 seat track-to-cushion frame bolts.
    • To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  31. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
