Removal And Installation: Halfshaft: Removal

All halfshafts 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
  2. Remove the front tires and wheels. For additional information, refer to WHEELS AND TIRES article.
  3. Remove and discard the front wheel hub nuts.
  4. Remove the ABS wheel speed sensor bolts and position the sensors aside.
  5. Remove the lower arm pinch bolts and nuts from the lower arms.
  6. Separate the lower arms from the front wheel knuckles.
  7. Using the special tool, separate the front drive halfshafts from the front wheel hubs.

    Left halfshaft 

  9. Using the special tools, remove the LH front drive halfshaft from the differential.

    Right halfshaft 

  11. Using a brass drift to strike the RH halfshaft in the indicated area, separate and remove the halfshaft from the intermediate shaft.
