Power Transfer Unit (PTU) - Automatic Transaxle

9 - PTU-to-engine bracket (6 cylinder engines) (6 required)
10 3K305 PTU-to-engine bracket (6 cylinder engines) (6 required)

All vehicles 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
  2. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
  3. Drain the power transfer unit (PTU). For additional information, refer to Power Transfer Unit (PTU) Draining and Filling - Automatic Transaxle .
  4. CAUTION: A new power transfer unit (PTU) intermediate shaft seal must be installed whenever the intermediate shaft or PTU is removed from the vehicle.
  5. Remove the front RH intermediate shaft. For additional information, refer to FRONT DRIVE HALFSHAFTS article.
  6. Remove the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to DRIVESHAFT article.
  7. Remove the 4 bolts and the crossmember brace.

    Vehicles equipped with 3.0L 

  9. Remove the catalytic converter - 3.0L manifold. For additional information, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM article.
  10. All vehicles 

  11. Remove the 3 PTU heat shield bolts and the PTU heat shield.
  12. Remove the 6 PTU-to-engine bracket bolts and the bracket.
  13. Disconnect the PTU vent tube and position it aside.
  14. Remove the 4 PTU-to-transaxle bolts.
  15. Remove the PTU.
