CAUTION:
New power transfer unit (PTU) lubricant must be installed any time the PTU has been submerged in water.
NOTE:
The power transfer unit (PTU) is lubricated for life and is not to be checked unless a leak is suspected.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
- Remove the fill plug and fill the PTU with rear axle lubricant.
- Install the fill plug and gasket.
- Tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
NOTE:
The fluid level must be even with the bottom of the filler hole with the vehicle on flat, level ground.
