Wheel Knuckle - Drum Brakes: Removal

All vehicles
- Remove the wheel and tire. For additional information, refer to WHEELS AND TIRES article.
- Remove the brake shoes. For additional information, refer to DRUM BRAKE article.
- Remove the parking brake cable bracket-to-control arm bolt.
- Disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake backing plate.
- Remove the parking brake cable from the brake backing plate.
- Disconnect the brake tube from the wheel cylinder and remove the brake tube bracket bolt.
- Remove the ABS wheel speed sensor bolt and the 2 ABS wheel speed sensor harness bolts.
- Remove and position the wheel speed sensor and harness aside.
- Remove the coil spring. For additional information, refer to Spring .
- Remove the lower ball joint nut.
- Index-mark the notch on the cam nut adjustment cam.
- Remove and discard the wheel knuckle bolt.
- Remove and discard the cam nut.
- Remove the wheel knuckle.

CAUTION:
The joint area must be free of foreign material to make sure of correct clamping.
