Crankshaft Rear Seal: Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
- Remove the flywheel. For additional information, refer to Flywheel .
- Remove the oil level indicator.
- Remove the lower oil level indicator tube bolt.
- Remove the upper oil level indicator tube bolt.
- Remove the oil level indicator tube.
- Remove and discard the oil level indicator tube O-ring seal.
- Remove the 17 bolts and the oil pan.
- Remove the 6 bolts and the crankshaft rear oil seal with retainer plate.
NOTE:
If the oil pan is not removed, damage to the rear oil seal retainer joint can occur.
