Removal And Installation

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
- Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding .
- Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE - 2.3L article.
- Disconnect the heater hose at the thermostat housing.
- Disconnect the lower radiator hose at the thermostat housing.
- Remove the 3 bolts, thermostat housing and gasket.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Clean and inspect the gasket, install a new gasket if necessary.
- Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding .
