Front Brake Disc: Installation

  1. On 4WD vehicles, use Metal Brake Parts Cleaner (F6AZ-2C410-AB), or equivalent, to clean the brake disc. Using match-marks, mount the brake disc on the hub. Apply High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant (F6AZ-9L494-AA), or equivalent, meeting Ford specification ESE-M12A4-A to the hub mounting surface to prevent future corrosion.
  2. On 2WD vehicles, apply grease and pack wheel bearings. Install inner bearing and NEW grease seal. Position the disc and hub assembly. Install outer wheel bearing, and bearing retainer washer. Install spindle nut. See Figure.
  3. To seat bearings, while rotating rotor counterclockwise, tighten spindle nut to 21 ft. lbs. (29 N.m). Back off spindle nut 175 degrees. To complete tightening procedure, rotate rotor clockwise while tightening spindle nut to 17 INCH lbs. (2 N.m).
  4. Install spindle nut retainer, NEW cotter pin, and grease cap.
  5. On all vehicles, install anchor plate and caliper assembly. See Figure and Figure . Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
