Removal (Excursion & F250/F350 Super Duty Pickup)

- Ensure transfer case is in 2W HI position. Raise and support vehicle. If transfer case is to be disassembled, drain transfer case fluid. Mark drive shaft and axle flange or yoke for reassembly reference. Remove front and rear drive shafts from transfer case, and position aside.
- Remove skid plate, if equipped. On manual shift models, disconnect 3-position switch harness connector, and position aside. Disconnect shift rod using Shift Linkage Insulator (T67P-7341-A). On models equipped with Electronic Shift On the Fly (ESOF), disconnect gear motor encoder assembly harness connections, and position aside.
- On all models, support transfer case with hydraulic jack, and secure with safety strap. Position suitable drain pan under extension housing. Remove 6 transfer case-to-extension housing retaining bolts. Remove transfer case.
