Transaxle Drive Cycle Test

NOTE:
The Transaxle Drive Cycle Test must be carried out exactly. Faults have to occur consecutively for codes P0731, P0732, P0733 and P0734 to be set, and 5 times consecutively for continuous codes P0741 and P1741.
NOTE:
When carrying out the Transaxle Drive Cycle Test, refer to the Solenoid Operation Chart for correct solenoid operation. Refer to Pinpoint Tests - Non OSC Equipped Vehicle .
- Record and then erase Self Test codes.
- Warm engine to normal operating temperature.
- Make sure transmission fluid level is correct.
- With transaxle in Overdrive (Circle D) position, press transmission control (TC) switch (LED lamp should illuminate) and moderately accelerate from a stop to 64 km/h (40 mph). This allows the transaxle to shift into 3rd gear. Hold the speed and throttle opening steady for a minimum of 15 seconds (30 seconds above an altitude of 4000 feet above sea level).
- Press TC switch (LED lamp should turn off) and accelerate from 64 km/h (40 mph) to 80 km/h (50 mph). This allows the transaxle to shift into 4th gear. Hold the speed and throttle opening steady for a minimum of 15 seconds.
- With the transaxle in 4th gear and maintaining steady speed and throttle opening, lightly apply brake pedal (to operate stop lamps). Then hold the speed and throttle steady for an additional 5 seconds (minimum).
- Brake to a stop and remain stopped for a minimum of 20 seconds.
- Repeat Steps 4 through 6 at least 5 times.
- Carry out Self Test and record continuous codes.
