Removal (Dual Rear Wheels)

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel.
  2. On models with forward-of-axle brake calipers, remove stone shield. See Figure. On all models, remove anchor plate and caliper assembly. See DISC BRAKE CALIPERS & PADS .
  3. Remove axle shaft retaining bolts and axle shaft. See Fig 1. Remove and discard the axle shaft "O" ring seal. See Fig 2.
    4. NOTE: Ensure that the drive tangs on the special tool engage the four slots of the hub nut.
  4. On F350 with Dana axle, using Wheel Hub Nut Socket (T88T-4252-A), or equivalent, remove hub nut. See Fig 3.
  5. On F450 and F550 with Ford axle, using a suitable socket, and in correct rotation, remove hub nut.
  6. On all models, remove outer bearing. Remove hub and rotor assembly. Remove rotor-to-hub bolts and separate rotor from hub.
  7. Inspect the rear hub for cracks and damage around the bolt holes. Check for oversized bolt holes.
