Phase 1 - Leak Verification

- Disconnect the upper vapor tube-to-evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge valve quick connect coupling. For additional information, refer to FUEL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION article.
- Connect the smoke machine to the upper EVAP canister purge valve fitting. For additional information, refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Connect the scan tool and open the EVAP canister purge valve.
- Using the scan tool, close the EVAP canister vent solenoid. For additional information, refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Using the smoke machine, pressurize the EVAP system.
- Monitor the indicator flag on the smoke machine leak tester. If the measurement is below the indicator flag, the system has passed the leak test and the test procedure is complete. If the measurement is above the indicator flag, the system has failed the leak test. Proceed to Phase 2.
