Hydro-Boost Unit: Removal

  1. With engine off, depress brake pedal several times to discharge accumulator.
  2. Disconnect negative battery cable. If equipped with dual batteries, remove left battery. Remove air cleaner housing.
  3. Remove the master cylinder. See MASTER CYLINDER .
  4. Disconnect the power steering pressure hoses. See Fig 1.
  5. Install NEW Teflon® seals on the power steering pressure fittings. See Fig 2.
  6. Disconnect the power steering return hose. See Fig 3.
  7. Remove the two nuts and the metal line retainer. See Fig 1.
  8. Remove the stoplight switch self-locking pin. See Figure.
  9. Remove the stoplight switch and the brake booster push rod from the brake pedal pin.
  10. Remove the power brake booster nuts and remove the power brake booster. See Figure.
  11. To install, reverse removal procedure. Bleed Hydro-Boost and/or brake system as needed. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
