Removal (Except E450)

NOTE:
To prevent master cylinder overflow when caliper piston is depressed, remove and discard some brake fluid from master cylinder.
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel.
- Release the speed sensor wiring from the front brake hose, if necessary. See Fig 1.
- Remove brake hose-to-caliper bolt. Remove and plug hose. Discard copper washers. See Fig 2.
- Remove caliper pin bolts. See Fig 3. Lift the disc brake caliper off the front disc brake caliper anchor plate.
- Inspect the disc brake caliper for leaks. See Fig 4. If leaks are found, disassembly is required. See DISC BRAKE CALIPER under OVERHAUL.
- Remove and inspect brake pads. See Figure. Replace as necessary. Remove the disc brake anti-rattle clips.
- Replace brake pads if lining is less than specification. See DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS .
