Removal - Parking Brake Shoes (Rear Disc)

  1. Fully release parking brake control.
  2. Relieve the tension on the parking brake system. Pull the front parking brake cable down. Insert a suitable retainer. See Figure.
  3. Raise and support vehicle. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  4. Remove the rear brake disc caliper. See REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER & PADS .
  5. Remove the rear brake disc.
  6. Remove the brake shoe retracting spring. See Fig 1.
  7. Remove the brake shoe adjusting screw spring.
  8. Remove the brake adjuster screw.
  9. Remove the rear brake shoe hold-down springs.
  10. Remove the rear brake shoes and linings along with the inboard brake shoe retracting spring.
  11. Inspect the components for excessive wear or damage and install new components as required.
