    • Connect the diagnostic tool.
    • Key in ON position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: SJB Self-Test
    • Carry out the SJB self-test.
    • Record the SJB continuous DTCs.
    • Is DTC B1359 or B1555 present?
    1. YES  : If only DTC B1359 is present, go to  B2 .
    2. If only DTC B1555 is present, go to  B3 .
    3. If both DTCs are present, go to  B4 .
    4. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  2. B2 CHECK CIRCUIT 297 (BK/LG) FOR AN OPEN OR A SHORT TO GROUND
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280a

    • Measure the resistance between:
      • ignition switch C250-6 circuit 297 (BK/LG), harness side and SJB C2280a-16 circuit 297 (BK/LG), harness side.
      • ignition switch C250-6 circuit 297 (BK/LG), harness side and ground.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the components, and greater than 10,000 ohms to ground?
    1. YES  : Go to  B4.
    2. NO  : REPAIR circuit 297 (BK/LG). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  3. B3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1050 (LG/VT) FOR AN OPEN OR A SHORT TO GROUND
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280a
    • Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250
    • Fig 2: Checking Circuit For Open Or Short To Ground

    • Measure the resistance between:
      • ignition switch C250-1 circuit 1050 (LG/VT), harness side and SJB C2280a-7 circuit 1050 (LG/VT), harness side.
      • ignition switch C250-1 circuit 1050 (LG/VT), harness side and ground.
    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the components, and greater than 10,000 ohms to ground?
    1. YES  : Go to  B4.
    2. NO  : REPAIR circuit 1050 (LG/VT). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  4. B4 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH
    • Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250
    • Carry out the Ignition Switch Component Test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING article.
    • Is the ignition switch OK?
    1. YES  : Go to  B5.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Ignition Switch . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  5. B5 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
    • Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion.
      • pushed-out pins.
      • spread terminals.
    • Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present?
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES article.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
