Driver-Side Air Bag Module: Removal

- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Driver-side air bag module is located in center of steering wheel. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
- Ensure front wheels are in straight-ahead position. Remove 2 back cover plugs from rear of steering wheel. Remove 2 air bag module retaining screw and washer assemblies and disconnect electrical connectors. Remove air bag module. See Figure .
- Remove air bag simulator from lower clockspring connector and reconnect connector. Install Air Bag Simulator (418-F088/105-R0012) on upper clockspring connector. Reconnect battery(s). With air bag simulators installed at all deployable devices, perform system operation check. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK . Disconnect battery(s). Wait at least one minute for back-up power supply to deplete stored energy.
