Diagnostics Disabling Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Ford Econoline. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
This procedure should only be used when performing air bag system diagnostics.
- Record pre-set radio frequencies for reprogramming, if equipped. Disconnect battery(s). See DISCONNECTING BATTERIES . Wait at least one minute for back-up power supply to deplete stored energy.
- Remove driver-side air bag module. See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect Air Bag Simulator (418-F088/105-R0012) to clockspring connector at top of steering column (in place of air bag). See AIR BAG SIMULATOR .
- On models equipped with passenger-side air bag, remove right-side lower instrument panel finish panel, reinforcement and reinforcement bracket. Looking up between interior engine cover and air bag module, locate and disconnect passenger-side air bag module harness connector. Connect Air Bag Simulator (418-F088/105-R0012) to harness side of connector. On all models, reconnect battery(s).
