Removal & Installation

WARNING:
Smoking or open flame of any type must not be present when working near fuel or fuel vapor. Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running. Before repairing or disconnecting any of the fuel lines or fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved to prevent accidental spraying of fuel, causing personal injury or a fire hazard. . Clean all fuel residue from engine compartment. Failure to do so can cause personal injury or damage to the vehicle.
NOTE:
Spring Lock Disconnect Tool 310-S039 (T90T-9550-5) is required to perform this procedure.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. On vehicles with dual batteries, see DUAL BATTERIES under MISCELLANEOUS. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
- Raise and support vehicle. Disconnect fuel tank electrical connector and electrical wiring push pins. See Fig 1 .
- Disconnect fuel supply and delivery line from fuel tank. See FUEL LINE CONNECTORS .
- Remove 2 bolts from fuel pump mounting bracket. Remove fuel pump with mounting bracket from vehicle. Disconnect fuel pump electrical wiring push pin on fuel pump mounting bracket and pinch bolt. See Fig 2 . Remove fuel pump from mounting bracket. To install, reverse removal procedure.
