Removal & Installation

- Disconnect negative battery cable. On vehicles with dual batteries, see DUAL BATTERIES under MISCELLANEOUS. Remove air cleaner, inlet duct and resonator. See AIR INTAKE RESONATOR .
- Remove turbocharger heat shield. Loosen marmon clamp and pull exhaust outlet pipe away from turbocharger. Loosen exhaust inlet manifold marmon clamp. Exhaust inlet manifold marmon clamp cannot be removed with turbocharger in place. See Figure .
- Loosen inlet hose clamps and remove inlet hose. Loosen compressor manifold clamps and position compressor manifold forward. See Fig 1 .
- Disconnect backpressure valve. Remove turbocharger-to-pedestal mounting bolts and remove turbocharger from turbocharger pedestal. See Fig 2 . Remove and discard "O" rings.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Install NEW "O" rings on turbocharger pedestal. Tighten turbocharger bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
