Coolant Pump - 3.0L (4V): Removal

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
- Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding .
- Disconnect the crankcase vent tube and position it aside.
- Remove the coolant pump belt. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE - 3.0L (4V) article.
- Using the special tools, remove the coolant pump pulley.
- Disconnect the heater hose from the coolant pump.
- Disconnect the coolant pump-to-engine hose and position aside.
- Remove the 3 bolts from the coolant pump assembly.
- Reposition the coolant pump-to-thermostat housing hose clamp and remove the coolant pump and hose as an assembly.
CAUTION:
Failure to use the correct special tools, assembled as shown in the illustration, will result in damage to the coolant pump pulley and/or special tools.
