EVAP Canister Purge Valve

The Evaporative Emission (EVAP) system contains fuel vapor and condensed fuel vapor. Although not present in large quantities, it still presents the danger of explosion or fire. Disconnect negative battery cable to minimize the possibility of an electrical spark occurring, possibly causing a fire or explosion if fuel vapor or liquid fuel is present in the area.
Disconnect negative battery cable. On vehicles with dual batteries, see DUAL BATTERIES under MISCELLANEOUS. Disconnect EVAP canister purge valve electrical connector and EVAP vacuum control hose. Disconnect 2 EVAP tubes. Remove EVAP canister purge valve nuts and remove EVAP canister purge valve. See Fig 1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten EVAP canister purge valve nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Ensure EVAP system does not leak. Perform after repair procedure. See AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE under EMISSION SYSTEMS & SUB-SYSTEMS.
